Police attack protestors

Police attack protesters

A contingent from Leeds and Bradford were among the anti-war protestors prevented from marching down Whitehall to protest at the reception being given to George W. Bush in Downing Street. Hundreds of riot police sealed off access, protecting the real terrorists, in another assault on democracy and civil liberties. Two demonstrators were hospitalised.

Stop the War report

Leeds Coalition Against the War has been active from the start of the so-called war on terror. We have organised activities and worked with other groups, to oppose the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the assault on Lebanon and the erosion of our civil liberties. We have seen almost every prediction of the anti-war movement come true. The dreadful consequences for the populations of the occupied countries, terror attacks in this country and the use of the Terrorism Act against lawful protesters and innocent people.

Our work is far from over. Please get in touch if you would like to become involved, or have ideas for activities.

"Current U.S. policy is not working, as the level of violence in Iraq is rising and the government is not advancing national reconciliation. Making no changes in policy would simply delay the day of reckoning at a high cost... The longer the United States remains in Iraq without progress, the more resentment will grow among Iraqis..."
